Supplements

At Solutions Medical Center, we only promote and sell pharmaceutical grade supplements such as Pure Encapsulations and Metagenics brands. Pharmaceutical grade means that the quality and purity of any given product are tested at many points during production. Raw materials are used and sourced from trusted suppliers within the United States or Europe. The end product must be in excess of 99% pure with no extra binders, fillers, excipients, dye, or unknowns. Why put unnecessary ingredients in your body?

DIFFERENCE BETWEEN SUPPLEMENTS

PHARMACEUTICAL GRADE (Medical Clinic, Pharmacy)
At Solutions Medical Center, we only utilize pharmaceutical grade supplements. They are tested for quality and purity at several points during production and are considered the “gold standard” grade. Raw materials are used and sourced from trusted suppliers within the United States or Europe and meet the highest standards of independent third-party testers. They are available without a prescription, but only through licensed health care professionals who understand the potency and efficacy of the supplements they prescribe. When you take pharmaceutical grade supplements you are consistently consuming and absorbing the vitamins and minerals actually listed on the bottle!

MEDICAL GRADE (Nutrition Store)
These are usually a slightly better quality than the drug store supplement. While they contain less fillers and often contain more usable nutrients, they are also rarely third-party tested and have a wide variance in their actual contents.

NUTRITIONAL GRADE (Drug Store)
These are the most widely consumed supplements and are available on the shelves at your drug store/megamart. NO ONE monitors these supplements’ contents and effectiveness. They are rarely tested for consistency of ingredients, efficacy, absorption, dissolution, or purity by an independent third-party lab. In addition, they often contain fillers, binders and dyes which are useless and actually irritating to sensitive individuals. In an effort to save money and take up less space, these supplements are usually made with harder to digest varieties of the vitamins and minerals you need. In most cases, your body disposes of these supplements without absorbing any nutrients.

INCORPORATING SUPPLEMENTS
Our overall goal is to upgrade the quality of foods in a patient’s diet to optimize the physiological and biomechanical processes of the human body. We provide tailored recommendations regarding the use of supplements in your plan of care for an extra nutritional or metabolic boost when needed to exert physiological change.

DRUG INTERACTIONS
Use of supplements may be safely recommended for patients already using pharmaceutical medications (drugs), but some potentially harmful interactions may occur. For this reason, it is important to keep all of your healthcare providers fully informed about all medications and nutritional supplements, herbs, or hormones you may be taking. It is also important to consult with a health care provider who is trained and knowledgeable in the use, interactions and reactions that may occur as a results of using supplements.

Nutrition

We encounter patients every day that suffer from chronic diseases. These patients experience increased inflammation, metabolic disturbance, elevated autoimmune activity, energy deficits, and often have altered body composition as a result. Our internal environment differs in gut flora, integrity of the intestinal wall, and the immune system which affect our ability to process foods, absorb nutrients, detoxify and expel waste. Many of these issues are related to diet and nutrition which is why in our in clinical practice, we utilize food as medicine. We adequately assess nutritional status, along with other factors to offer a personalized approach to nutritional therapies that will address the factors underlying symptoms and chronic disease.
